The premier slate venue of the Lakes is a mighty impressive crag, its huge slabs of high-angled lightly featured rock dipping down to enter a dark lake at the bottom of the quarry. The routes are mostly in the higher grades and give stunning and committing undertakings. Even the three given sport grades have a bite to them. The routes are easily approached (some via abseil) and the place takes on a more friendly feel once the sun has come around onto the Main Wall in the afternoon. It is worth noting that there have been many significant rockfalls over the years. These changes are likely to continue - be prepared to alter your plans if sections having gone missing or look unstable.
