[Stop Caw-ruh nan Lochan] Gaelic for Peak of the Corrie with the Lochan; not exactly a unique feature in Scotland...
Stob Coire nan Lochan is one of Scotland's most popular winter venues, and for good reason: the corrie is spectacular, the climbing is excellent, it comes into condition quickly and it's not too far from the road.
The layout of the corrie is apparent from the road. Summit Buttress is the steep face on the left-hand side, bounded by the easy gully of Broad Gully. To the right of this is some more broken ground containing the classic Dorsal ArĂȘte, then the main area consisting of the South, Central and North Buttresses. Pinnacle Buttress is the smaller crag on the far right.
