The Dubh Loch is set in a high secluded valley between the extensive White Mounth plateau of Lochnagar to the north and the cone topped plateau of Broad Cairn to the south. Creag an Dubh Loch is the huge Broad Cairn precipice guarding the loch. The Dubh Loch is a lonely and intimidating place in winter, when the cliffs take on an impressive scale. But a visit will be memorable even if the easier option of a route on Eagles Rock is chosen.
At more than 1km in length and 300m in vertical height, Creag and Dubh Loch is the biggest cliff in the Cairngorms.
