The Lost Valley (Coire Gabhail)

[Caw-ruh Gowal] Gaelic, meaning Corrie of the Capture.
This large, flat-bottomed valley is well hidden from Glen Coe and is worth a visit for its own sake, regardless of what route is climbed.
Its seclusion meant that in the 17th century it was reputedly used by the MacDonald clan to hide rustled cattle, though it is hard to imagine driving reluctant beasts up the approach track now. Several surviving members of the MacDonald clan also fled here in a blizzard after the Massacre of
Glen Coe in 1692.
