Beinn Bhàn

This superb mountain offers some of the finest winter climbing in the Northern Highlands. There are six corries lining its north-east face. The first corrie, Coir\' Each is somewhat open and less impressive than its neighbours. The second and third corries, Coire na Feòla and Coire na Poite, each rise from an outer corrie to a high inner corrie with a magnificent back wall. Coire na Poite is enclosed by two narrow ridges with precipitous sides whose outer ends form the great castellated buttresses of A\' Chìoch on the left and A\' Phoit on the right. Beyond A\' Phoit the fourth corrie, Coire an Fhamair, contains on its south side one of the steepest cliffs on the Scottish mainland. There is a fifth corrie, Coire Toll a\' Bhein, which is unnamed on the OS map and a smaller sixth, Coire Gorm.
