Bennybeg is a very accessible, friendly and relaxing place to climb all year round, with 27 well bolted low grade sport routes. At present, grades range from 2 to 6a and the close and well-considered spacing and placing of the bolts, especially on the easier grades, has meant that they are appropriate for beginners and kids. Some of the lower-offs were replaced in 2011. As well as the ease of access and its sheltered and sunny aspect, another of the cliff\'s attractions is that it is situated 2mins from a cafe. The crag is a volcanic dyke made of quartz-dolorite which catches the sun all day until early evening. Muthill and Crieff are well sheltered by the Ochils, Ben Chonzie and Ben Vorlich, meaning that it is often surprisingly dry even when pouring in the central belt. The crag dries rapidly after rain and it is possible to climb even in light showers. The Bennybeg area is managed by a charitable trust for the good of the community and the conservation of the wildlife and special site of scientific interest. The ponds to be found at the top end of the nature trail that Bennybeg Craig sits on are an SSSI for aquatic plant life. Perth and Kinross Ranger service help maintain the area as well as look after the nature trails, benches and path clearance. The landowner, Drummond Estates and local businesses recognise the value of the crag for climbers and are tolerant of climbers. Special attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the area and even litter dropped by the public should be removed so as the blame does not fall on climbers ??\" that includes cigarette stubs.
