An Cliseam (Clisham)

At 799m An Cliseam is the highest peak in the Outer Hebrides and one of the few hills there where you might meet someone! It consists of a north-east facing horseshoe, with the summit on its southern arm. There is some scrambling on the ridge to Mulla bho Dheas, mostly just boulders, but with some Grade 1/2 slabs just right of the skyline. The best scrambling, however, is on the headwall of Coire Dubh, where clean slabs lead up to the minor top of An t-Isean. The rib left of the main slabs is Grade 2, with much variation possible (avoid the overhangs at half height by pink steps on the left). The gneiss is clean and solid, has good friction and is scattered with small positive holds.
