Liathach (1055m) is a contender for the grandest hill in Scotland. The summit ridge is a classic scramble, exposed but not hard, pinnacled ridges with exposed scrambling on mostly big holds. There is generally lots of choice of route but note that the traversing path which avoids the Fasarinen pinnacles on their south side is just as exposed as the ridge itself and isn\'t an easy option for the nervous. There are many possible scrambles up the flanks, but with a couple of exceptions these are much less good, broken into tiers by many grass ledges, sometimes quite loose and usually harder than they look. The north side is famed for its many steep icefalls in winter.
