Aonach Dubh, East Face

The western of Glencoe\'s \'Three Sisters\' Aonach Dubh (892m) is surrounded on all sides by very steep ground, with climbing on its east, north and west faces. The East Face has some of the best climbing in Glencoe, with routes of all levels of difficulty. The tallest part of the cliff is split by a large grassy terrace at half height with the well named Weeping Wall below and the classic rock climbs of Archer Ridge and Quiver Rib above. Further left the face is still high but leans back a little, this is Barn Wall. About 300 metres left and a little higher is Far East Buttress, which has good but unfrequented routes at Severe and two fine scrambles, one up each edge. The rock on all the crags is excellent, sound and clean with lots of square cut holds, although often rather lacking in protection for those using a rope.
