Beinn a\' Bheithir - Sgòrr Dhonuill

The Beinn a\' Bheithir ridge comrpises the twin summits of Sgòrr Dhearg (1024m) and Sgòrr Dhonuill (1001m), which are a popular round from Ballachulish, with the corrie variants more popular than the ridges, rather oddly. Each peak has a scramble on a subsidiary ridge. Sgòrr a\' Chaolais is the narrow ridge which joins the main ridge of Sgorr Dhonuill about 500 metres east of the summit and 100m lower. It starts steeply, with some optional scrambling, then the narrow arête behind is mostly grassy, but contains minor pinnacles and one much harder descent. It is sometimes used as a descent route because then the only hard section is climbed upwards, but in this case finding the best way off from the steep section can be a problem, with direct routes taking you through thick forestry plantations
