Dungeon Hill

The Dungeon of Buchan is one of Galloway's best rock climbing crags. In some ways, it is an obvious place to go looking for winter routes too – multi-pitch granite crags with drainage lines and vegetation are normally a good bet.
However, this one is at 450m and faces south-east, so good conditions are very rare and the crag has not yielded the number of routes one might have expected. As with Craignaw, the approach crosses the Silver Flowe, where care is required both to avoid disturbing the sensitive wetlands and to avoid drowning in bog and tussocks.
