Beinn Sheasgarnaich

[Byn HISS-gar-nich] Gaelic, meaning Sheltering Hill.
This big lump of a mountain remained unexplored by winter climbers for a surprisingly long time. George Allan made the first forays onto the easier lines in 2008, and it was only in 2017 that Simon Richardson, Roger Webb and Sophie Grace Chappell began to develop the steeper lines. Since then, the crag has gained an increasingly enthusiastic band of devotees but solitude is still almost guaranteed.
It is still shown as Beinn Heasgarnich on some maps, but the latest OS maps use the revised spelling Sheasgarnaich.
