Creise [Kry-shuh] Probably from the Gaelic Creas meaning narrow.
This beautiful hill lies to the west of the Glen Coe ski centre and is clearly seen from the A82 near the Kingshouse Hotel.
It and Meall a' BhÚiridh form the northern half of the Black Mount, and a high ridge links through to Stob Ghabhar (see p135). The climbing is on the outlying top of Stob a' Ghlais Choire to the north of the main summit. The approach is fairly short but arduous, featuring a healthy dose of bog, tussocks and peat hags which are particularly memorable when semi-frozen. The quality of the climbing, particularly on the classic Inglis Clark Ridge, more than justifies the perseverance required to get there.
