Ladhar Bheinn

[Loe-ar Vyn] Gaelic, meaning Hoof or Claw Mountain.
The highest and finest mountain on Scotland's most remote peninsula, with ‘Scotland's answer to the Eigerwand' – what more could a winter climber want? Well, some might hope for reliable conditions, plentiful protection or some chance of rescue if things go wrong…
Coire Dhorrcail cuts deeply into Ladhar Bheinn's east side and is split by the prominent spur of Stob Dhorrcail. To the left (south) of this lies Stob a' Chearcaill with a dramatic north-west-facing crag. On the right is the spectacular Spider Buttress on Ladhar Bheinn itself, home of some of Scotland's most sought-after winter climbs.
Many of the routes here have had few (if any) repeats, so a consensus is yet to develop on grades and stars. Expect the star-count to increase as more people discover the winter climbing in this amazing part of Scotland!
