[Byn Nuish] Probably from the Gaelic Beinn an Ois, Hill of the Fawns.
Beinn Nuis is most commonly ascended as the starting-point of the ridge over Beinn Tarsuinn, the Corbett to the north. Whereas Beinn Tarsuinn has some excellent summer rock climbing, Beinn Nuis has the greater appeal in winter.
Its vegetated East Face has some of the best winter climbing on the island.
