Shaptor was the first part of Bovey Woods to be developed and is home to perhaps the most popular f7A+ in the woods - Slotted Wall. Numerous other good quality problems exist with the long, pumpy traverse of Spiderland (f7A+) well worth seeking out for those after a good steep workout. The leaning prow of Calcaneum Crisis (f7A+) takes an excellent big line and is something of a rite of passage for an aspiring woodsman (or lady) and William Shaptor (f7B+) proves too frustrating a challenge for most. Even if not climbing, it\'s worth heading up to the top of the hill above Long Wall to soak in the splendid vista of the nearby moorland.
