Castleberg Crag

Castleberg Crag is perched just above Settle and is easily seen from the town. The routes were put up relatively recently and the bolts sponsored by a number of the businesses in the town - hence the names. The grades range from 4s to 7s and the crag has become quite popular because it is easily accessed and often climbable, even during the cooler months. A number of the routes are good, especially around the steeper part of the crag, and the views are lovely. The rock itself is blocky and shattered but has been heavily cleaned and climbed on and is now relatively stable. However care is still required and it is wise not to hang around directly under anyone climbing.
