Plan de l\'Aiguille

The Plan de l\'Aiguille offers easy access to a wide variety of routes, from relatively low altitude, uncommitting rock climbs through to long, technical mixed lines on the imposing North Face of the Aiguille du Midi. One standout feature of the area is the scenery, with the legendary spires of the Chamonix Aiguilles towering above and the expanse of peaks across the Chablais and Aravis ranges stretching off into the distance.
The area dominates the view from much of Chamonix town centre and staring at these peaks, beer in hand, and plotting climbs on them is an integral part of most alpine trips. The routes are nothing short of legendary, be it the classic but slightly neglected Charmoz-Grépon Traverse, the perfect granite of the Blaitière and the Peigne or the imposing Frendo Spur up the 1200m high North Face of the Aiguille du Midi.
