Servoz

Servoz is a sunny roadside crag 20m from a nice bar with climbing at varying angles, mainly on good positive holds. The lower half of the crag is slabby and has a range of easier climbs from grade 2 through to 5. The upper half steepens up giving good lower-grade 6s and one grade 7 pitch. At its highest, the crag reaches 40m meaning all of the routes here can be climbed in a long single pitch with an 80m rope (just!). Quite a few of them can be done in a single pitch with a 70m rope too, but you need to take great care if doing this and remember to tie a knot in the end of your rope for lowering off. You may also want to extend a few of the lower bolts to avoid rope drag near the top of the routes.
If multi-pitch is your thing then the belay stances are usually on good ledges and you have the choice of either abseiling back down your route or walking off to the left of the crag (fixed cable then easy path). The routes in the lower parts can be confusing and the abundance of bolts and holds means that it is actually possible to climb almost anywhere on the crag - and people do!
