Barberine

Barberine is a great crag with some varied climbing on excellent granite and a good set of long multi-pitch routes and some single-pitch sections dotted across the hillside. At first glance the crag appears to be vegetated and broken and, whilst most of the belay ledges are grassy, the majority of pitches take good clean lines up lovely rock. The majority of the climbing is slabby and technical but there are also some stiff steep pitches too, so a team with varying climbing strengths will do well here by splitting the pitches intelligently. The pitches are quite long so 2 x 50m ropes and 14 quickdraws are advised. It is possible to abseil all of the routes or to walk down by crossing the top of the crag and following a path to the foot of the lower slabs.
