Stanage Plantation is probably the most famous bouldering location in the country. It has many superb and high profile problems like Crescent Arete, Not To Be Taken Away, The Green Traverse, Deliverance, Careless Torque, Brad Pit, The Joker and The Ace. For many climbers these iconic problems will be too difficult but there is plenty of easier stuff too.
Erosion - The Plantation has become a victim of its own popularity and it is showing increasing signs of wear and tear. Some holds have become sandy especially where a heel hook is required. More rock erosion has been caused by people climbing here when the rock is damp and it erodes much more quickly.
> Don\'t climb here when it is damp.
> Use a bouldering pad to protect the grass.
> Don\'t over-brush holds and only ever use a soft brush.
> Be careful with your footwork, especially heel hooks.
