Far below the road viaduct in New Mills is a spectacular gorge with some superb steep gritstone walls above a pleasant riverside walk. There are plenty of routes here including some fully-bolted, and locally sanctioned, sport routes on the viaduct pillars. For boulderers, the lower sections of the walls beneath the arches offer some intense bouldering with fingery traverses being a local speciality.
