Raven Tor became synonymous with hard climbing in the UK in the 1980s. Most of the media at the time focussed on the grade-busting routes that were being put up but this development was based on a strong foundation of hard bouldering, much of which had taken place at the foot of the same crag. The traverse of Powerband must rank as one of the most significant bouldering milestones in the Peak and many other cutting-edge problems have been added since.
For the average boulderer there isn\'t much on offer here except a sense of awe experienced by trying these famous problems. For the accomplished boulderer looking to improve their finger strength and stamina, this is one of the ultimate natural training locations.
