Stoney

In the 1970s and 1980s Stoney was a forcing ground where all the big names of Peak climbing honed their technique on the slippery walls, leaving some classic problems and a multitude of desperate eliminate problems. The main area of attention is the legendary Minus Ten Wall which has a multitude of mostly poor holds that give endless eliminates and some very impressive dynos. There are two caves named after Stoney stalwart Tom Proctor - Tom\'s Cave and Tom\'s Roof. These have been given the hold-by-hold topo treatment which is the only real way to do justice to such problems. Due to their popularity and the nature of the rock, all the holds at Stoney suffer from overuse and polish which has made many of the problems harder than when they were first climbed.
