The most extensive and best bouldering in Staffordshire is at the Roaches. Most of this is conveniently situated by the popular and accessible end of the crag in boulderfields, or at the base of the edge itself. The bouldering on offer here covers all styles but the area particularly excels in blank friction slabs and walls. The rock quality is excellent and exhibits some amazing features in the shape of scoops, grooves, pockets, flakes and aretes. For most climbers the Roaches is as good an area as any covered in this book.
