Churnet Valley

The Churnet is a beautiful little spot, tucked away to the south of the Peak District near Alton Towers, it's unlike anything else you will find in the Peak area. The steep-sided wooded valley has a series of small sandstone outcrops dotted along its length and on the hillsides above. The rock is of variable quality, but it is pretty solid on the buttresses described. Although it does have recorded routes, most people come here for the bouldering since the short steep buttresses have been developed with some superb problems. The valley is also famous for its long and sustained traverses.
