Compact and relatively low lying, Steel Knotts is a popular and easily accessed outcrop of excellent rock with plenty of good single-pitch climbs. The crag has a fine open outlook and gets sun early in the day and shade later, making it a flexible venue whether the weather is hot or cold. The majority of the routes are in the VS to mid-E grades offering faces and cracks - The Sting is one of the best jamming cracks in the Lake District. Steel Knotts Bluff is an easy-going little slab of rock that is good for groups.
