The climbing on the fellside of Buckbarrow is spread across numerous rocky bluffs, the best of the bunch being Witch Buttress and Pike Crag, both covered here. The climbs have a magnificent outlook and more of an outcrop feel about them; they are mostly single-pitch routes and also at a much lower altitude than the nearby Napes and Scafell Crag.
All the routes are good and tend to follow strong lines on solid rock. The superb combo of Witch followed by The Buckbarrow Needle is well worth stopping in for, although the approach walk is one of the steepest around.
