Raven Crag

Sitting in a fine position at the head of Langdale, and only a few minutes' walk from the delights of the bar at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Raven Crag is probably the southern Lakes' best low-level crag. It has numerous first-class routes across the grades and caters for those looking for multi and single-pitch routes. The centrepiece of the crag is the overhanging, lightly-featured wall that has some hard and serious extreme routes, while the wings provide many climbs in the low-to-mid grades. Although set deep in the mountains, its low altitude and sunny aspect mean that climbing is possible throughout the year given reasonably dry weather. With its ease of access and nearby campsite, the crag can get busy at times, but there are plenty of routes to go round.
