Heron Crag

Heron Crag is a tall wall of excellent rock, in a relatively low-lying setting and with an easy approach. It also has the major attraction of a 'Hard Rock Classic' in the shape of the brilliant Gormenghast. This superb climb tackles the long system of cracks up the middle of the tallest and cleanest central wall. Sadly, beyond this the crag doesn't have much more of any real quality. The other lines covered here are worthwhile, but neither is in the same class as Gormenghast. They can also be quite dirty if untravelled, which is likely until late in the season owing to the restriction because of nesting birds.
