El Rio is a popular climbing venue with a good spread of grades including a lot of excellent hard routes. Most of the rock in the valley faces south, and being in a canyon the cliffs are sheltered meaning it can very hot down here at any time of the year.
Although the majority of the climbs are sport routes there are also some good trad routes, usually following strong natural lines.
