Goddards Quarry

Goddards Quarry is the one you stare at from belays on Windy Buttress at Stoney. It is very extensive and stretches for some distance east to west. Unlike the nearby Darlton and Hidden Quarries, this one has been dormant for quite a long time and nature has reclaimed much of it making it less desolate and slightly more attractive. Unfortunately though the size of the quarry isn't matched by the amount of quality rock and much of the exposed rock is of little interest to anyone. There are a few decent wallsy but it needs to be said that there is nothing outstanding here and many of the routes have loose holds and dusty rock.
The best wall is probably the very first you encounter - Crustacean Wall. Further in the 15 Steps Area has some long 30m+ pitches. Stoat Wall and the Plantation offer more of varying quality. The northern side of the quarry doesn't offer much but there are a few bits and development is ongoing.
