Scogliera di Salinella - Central

The central area of Scogliera di Salinella has some superb and popular cliffs. At the most northerly point of this area is Fakiros Pillar which stood alone for many years until development joined it to the rest of the crag creating one long stretch of climbable rock. The sections from Karsten Oelze Memorial Wall down to Bunker are the highest along the Scogliera di Salinella. Bunker (so-called because it sits below an actual WW2 bunker) is one of the most popular crags in the area and has plenty to offer across the grades in several styles. There are a few multi-pitch climbs which are often linked together into long single pitches and an 80 rope is advised for many of the routes on this section.
Around the back of Bunker is Canalino Gully, which is a popular option when seeking shade on hot afternoons.
Heading south, the cliff weaves its way towards the gap in the cliff and the track that leads down from the top. This section of cliff has seven areas offering plenty of good routes and a few novelty ones tucked away here and there. However, some of them are a bit sharp at present.
The central descent track running down the gap in the cliff and has two small outcrops that are better than they appear, and one or two routes that make for good beginner climbs.
Heading south towards El Bahira, the buttresses are less popular but still have plenty to offer on some good walls and caves, with a few easier slabby sections as well. This is a good spot to head to if looking for a relatively quite area with only a short approach.
