Valdesi

The crag of Valdesi is situated on the northern tip of Monte Pellegrino and the national park and is one of the most popular and easily accessible crags in the area. It has a slightly urban feel to it and the area is popular with non-climbers looking for recreation. Having said that, it doesn't ever feel too crowded and has a pleasant atmosphere.
The rock is a compact limestone of varying angles with a mixture of well-bolted single pitches and a few multi-pitch routes with varying amounts of fixed gear. Here we have concentrated on the better equipped sport climbs. There is a good grade range although the best routes tend to be in the mid-grades. There are also some sections very popular with beginners and groups. The crag is slowly being re-equipped which, as usual, also results in new routes being added.
