Ban-y-gor

Ban-y-gor is predominantly a popular sport climbing crag that is all about overhangs. Located on the opposite side of the promontory to Wintour's Leap, it shares 'The Leap's' pastoral outlook over the River Wye, but the shady aspect and outcrop-style climbing are the antithesis to the more committing multi-pitch trad climbs at sunny Wintour's Leap. There are many sport and trad routes at Ban-y-gor but only a selection of the best sport routes is covered here. The grade range is good, but the style favours those with a bit of power to spare. The most popular section is the walls first encountered on the approach. Many of the initial bolts are placed fairly high off the ground and a stick-clip will be found useful.
