The rolling rural landscape north of Shepton Mallet has a number of huge but well concealed limestone quarries, the best of which is Fairy Cave Quarry - an extensive disused working and not the most picturesque of spots. Luckily for climbers its better walls and slabs provide some good trad pitches up high-angled slabs split by intermittent thin cracks and spaced horizontal breaks. Due to ash dieback, new abseil stations are to be installed which may be in different locations to those identified in the topos here.
