Rheinstor

A lovely little cliff in a sunny setting by the River Bradford, just south of Alport. The crag gets plenty of sun and is a short easy walk from the parking, making it a great spot for a quick evening session. The climbing contrasts with the welcoming and friendly setting, being quite fierce and technical on sharp pockets, although the routes which follow cracks tend to be more amenable. These days the place is more popular with boulderers tackling the starts to many of the routes. More often than not it is the last move to the break that is the crux which makes them all quite highball, but the flat landings are good for padding out. For those after roped challenges, routes on the edges like Le Crepuscule, Asgard and Valhalla are worthy of attention.
