Halldale Quarry is a huge open hole in the ground which was developed in 2001. There were a number of good walls including the Spectre Wall which gave some excellent sport routes. Most other sections were developed but they are not in the same class as the Spectre Wall. There is an ongoing application for planning permission to develop the quarry for housing. If this happens then the routes will almost certainly be off limits for ever. The climbs described here are the best of the set and they are recorded for historical reasons. At the time of writing they do still exist and the development is only progressing slowly.
