Rivelin

The low-level, south-facing outcrop of Rivelin Edge is widely known as a well-sheltered venue and a great spot in a dry winter. The quick and easy approach (it is inside the Sheffield city boundary) makes it popular when time is short. It is possible to finish work and nip out for an ascent of the Needle before the sun sets. Alternatively grab the chance on a beautiful winter\'s day to have a go at one of the big aretes or blank walls whilst the friction is good. The central area of the cliff - the Rivelin Needle - has a high concentration of good routes but hidden away on either side are some gems across the grades. Rivelin Quarries are located in heavily wooded area to the west (left on approach) of the main crag. It has some good cracks and walls but can get vegetated and has been neglected in the past.
