Above the bustling town of Settle is an area of unusual limestone outcrops that are collectively known as Attermire by climbers. The landscape is stark but on a good day it is a lovely place to climb. The majority of the routes described here are quite short trad routes that pack in the moves whilst the more recently developed Alcove has a selection of powerful sport climbs. The rock quality is good and most of the routes have adequate protection. The more distant Victoria Cave is a complete contrast with long and intimidating sport routes and some rock that needs to be handled with care.
