Goldsborough Carr

The only crag in the Yorkshire section which isn't actually in Yorkshire, Goldsborough Carr is an isolated set of buttresses overlooking open countryside to the south of Upper Teesdale in County Durham. Although not very extensive, and not especially high, the cliff has an intense set of climbs. Many should be considered as extended boulder problems due to the undercut nature of the two main buttresses which gives the routes hard starts at a bouldering height with easier climbing above. Visitors from afar are rare up on these wild moors, though if you are passing, a couple for hours spent here should blow your forearms away. There are a dozen or so belay stakes above the crag if you decide you want to lead the routes, but for most a pad or two will do for the starts on Thornbird and Thin Wall Buttresses.
