Kyloe out the Wood

A small but varied set of buttresses tucked away in a sheltered valley, often simply called Kyloe (its proper name is Collar Heugh) - the 'out the Woods' tag has been added to reduce confusion. Despite its name, much of the right-hand section of the cliff is well in the trees, which means it can be green, midgy and slow to dry.
The accessibility of the crag and the good selection of easier routes means that the place is quite popular with groups; the erosion of the cliff base around Flake Crack and Slab and Wall are clear pointers to the damage that overuse can cause.

Conditions
The crag faces just west of south and so gets the sun for much of the day. The sunny aspect and sheltered setting means it can get hot here, though also it can be a great winter venue. In summer, neck high bracken smothers the hillside making access to some parts of the cliff tricky and unpleasant - best check yourself for ticks after a day here.
