Aberdeen Area

Two small but compact venues that offer some great deep water soloing. Craig Stirling, in the south, became the venue for Scotland's first ever deep-water soloing festival in 2006. The cliff is split into two buttresses, the water is deep, and the crag reaches eighteen metres in height; thankfully the cruxes of all routes are below 13m - perfect for soloing. The rock is a contorted and banded schist, with amazing texture. Further north is the beautiful east-facing wall of vertical granite known as the Red Tower.
