The long unbroken line of sea-cliff that encompasses the Coastguard South crag, possesses a wealth of outstanding routes set in a remote and beautiful environment. Unlike much of the west coast of Portland, Coastguard South has an authentic sea-cliff ambience, with all that this entails - tidal approaches, slippery boulders and the constant accompaniment of the sea close by. High quality hard routes are in abundance whilst Coastguard South also offers more in the mid-grades than its northern neighbour, the clutch of 6s at the Xavier\'s Wall Area being some of the best around.
