Roche Rock has a long standing folklore attributed to it, and was among the first crags in the West Country to be explored and have its climbs recorded. The climbs have stood the test of time; and today still give many their first climbing experience. The geology of Roche Rock is scroal - a mix of quartz and felspar set in tourmaline that looks like granite, and like granite is a joy to handle and climb on.
