Pen Olver to Bass Point

Pen Olver is a delightful area that has a very good collection of routes spanning a broad grade range, although it will be of particular interest to teams wanting plenty of fine climbing in the VDiff to VS range. The rock is Amphibolite that forms dark well-featured angular cliffs, which on the whole are solid. Access to and from the routes is reasonably straightforward given good tides and sea conditions, allowing plenty of climbing time. The steep Amnesty Wall section of Pen Olver is a fine destination for mid-extreme pitches, but both tides and swell need to be assessed to avoid disappointment, since even at low tide, the belay ledge can be sea-washed. Pen Olver\'s near neighbour Bass Point is a squat steep buttress that presents a formidable west face that holds a number of classic extremes.
