Subluminal

The well-named Subluminal Cliff, as the name suggests lies under the lighthouse and can be conveniently divided in to three distinct sections. The western end of Subluminal is a very friendly sea cliff that has a substantial collection of good, lower-grade trad routes in an exciting but largely un-intimidating environment. This is a popular destination due to its ease of access, pleasant cliff-top ledges and sunny aspect - a fine place to climb, socialise and relax. In contrast, just to the east, and directly below the lighthouse is the dizzying Black Zawn, with its formidable set of routes that require the full gamut of sea cliff trad skills and experience. Immediately to the east of Black Zawn is The Lighthouse Cliff a long stretch of steep faces, split by small zawns and chimneys. This area is far less frequented and is a good halfway house in terms of ambience between the easy going parts of Subluminal and the big trad lines in the Boulder Ruckle.
