Santanyí

The small bay of Cala Santanyí is best left to those seeking a bit of fun when the weather gets too hot for sport climbing on the cliffs of Tijuana. The soloing here is limited, but the routes are great fun, especially Super Sonic. The rock can be brittle in places and the bay itself has been known to be hit by freak waves. Take care in The Cove since the water is shallow in places. A boat is useful for reaching the Sector Super Sonic.
As a complete contrast, Santanyí is also the location of one of the world's hardest routes which just happens to be a deep water solo. The impressive arch of Es Pontas is isolated from the mainland, slightly further down the coast, and is easily reached via a short drive from the beach at Cala Santanyí. It is easy to get to in calm seas but much more difficult when the conditions are rough.
