Despite only being a very small crag, Penia di Canazei offers a host of excellent sport routes that are well worth seeking out if you're in the area. It is a particularly good evening venue and is also great if you are looking for a relaxing afternoon away from the surrounding big walls. The rock is a compact conglomerate which provides a contrasting medium to the surrounding venues. The climbing is technical requiring good balance and footwork. Despite the close proximity of the road the crag is in a surprisingly tranquil setting with a picturesque nearby stream making it an ideal spot for families. There are two sectors on separate buttresses located 20m from each other. The left-hand buttress - Settore Grotta - has slightly longer and steeper routes but with bigger holds particularly on the crag classic Fessura. In contrast Settore Placca offers technical slab climbing on very small holds.
