Frea

Frea is a well known sport crag near the top of the Gardena Pass. The crag is substantial with just over 150 routes, many of them multi-pitch. Technical slab climbing predominates though there are some steeper routes. The grades can feel quite harsh for those happier on steeper ground, but that is usually the case for slabs. The rock is good and the routes are well equipped. There are several sections of easy via ferrata to help you access some of the sectors. Though all the climbs are located in roughly the same area, the crag has been split into five sectors for simplicity. Because of the tiered nature of the crag, it is worth wearing a helmet as there are often people climbing above you. The crag does suffer from seepage after heavy rain, particularly in the many little pockets that are found.
